Rick Reeves wheel for sale
I've decided no reply means its okay to do this, and I want to post before I lose my nerve on selling this one.
Purchased this from a friend a few years ago. She had never finished it, and the bobbin on the wheel is about 1/3 full of the only spinning she says she did. I swore I wouldn't use until I finished it first and I've never done that, so I've kinda decided it deserves someone who can care and use it better than me.
The info:
Unfinished. 24" Saxony. 3 bobbins - one on the wheel and two on the lazy kate. 3 flyer whorls. Still has oriface hook. Signed and dated 2000.
Asking $1000, but will entertain offers, especially if I don't have to consider how to ship it. The wheel is in Spotsylvania County right now.
Below is a second picture of the underside of the bench showing the signature and extra whorls.

Yarn Shop updates
I was wandering around the blog trying to remember who was the "manager" if you will since I was wondering if something was allowed.
Anyway, I noticed the yarn shop list needs updating. Sadly, My Favorite Yarn Shop in Warrenton closed recently. I also discovered that Knit Happens in Alexandria had closed when I went to Old Town recently, though there is a new (to me anyway) one called Fibre Space.
Anyway my question - I've decided to sell a 2 of my 3 wheels - is it okay to post "for sales" here?

Fall Festivals - Montpelier
Well, I want to go to Montpelier, but I don't think my personal life is going to let me. So, ladies, please do this: please post here so that Olivia and I can live vicariously - and pics too please!
I wanted to go to Shenandoah last weekend but depended on Chan for a report ... if you went, please post something here, alright?

Montpelier Fiber Festival
Who is going? I'll probably be attending on Sunday, but I am open to a change...I'd be glad to carpool with anyone coming this way.
With all the grandbabies things are quite busy. I know I have been neglecting posting. I have been knitting, knitting, knitting. I have two Rose of England Teacloths ongoing in lace weight....Lots of little Mary Janes and I have developed a cute little Saddle Oxford/ Athletic Shoe pattern for the boys...and I have two ripple baby blankets ongoing for psuedo grands ( ie: babies of children that have been like my children..)
Bryer is still with me about 12 hours a day. She is almost two and quite "independent"...Used to be when she climbed out of her crib she came looking for me. Now she wants to know where I not so she can get into something she isn't supposed to....By the time she goes home all I am good for is a little Farmville and off to bed to knit. The house is a wreck.
Miss Caroline Grace came early, 9-11-10, which would have been my father's 100th birthday and it looks like Marissa Elizabeth will be here any day now. They actually made a "trial run" to the hospital this morning....We are triple booked this weekend...with the "beauty queens" going to the fair. Hannah is having a housewarming/birthday/pig roast complements of their landlors and Thomas and his friend Joel...and FC's 45th highschool reunion....so my bet is Marissa will plan to arrive then....oh and Boston College/VA Tech at 12:00.
Caroline picked to come during the VA Tech/JMU game...Bless her...Not that I wanted to sit in the pouring rain while we got our hineys beat or the joyous ride home with my guys...My son did give me a blow by blow update on his "computer" phone...until I told him " if he could not say anything nice, not to say anything at all...Apparently after that nothing nice happened.
Please remember this is not my site, but your site...Please feel free to post about what you are working on.... what you want to work on... and.....what is going on fiber wise in your area...
... and vendors and guilds we WANT to know about your workshops classes and sales...

RCK Market Faire - a day at the Faire
Saturday was River City Knitters' 2nd annual (?) Trips & jobs
Still looking for work, the job I really wanted I didn't get. Had a phone interview this past Friday and a face to face this past Tuesday. Not really sure I want the Tuesday job.
We travelled to South Caroline for South East Linux Fest (SELF) June 11-13 and had a great time. I got the chance to go and knit with a bunch of lovely ladies from the Spartanburg Knitting Guild. One of ladies was kind enough to come to the hotel and pick me up and take me to the meeting and to a nice little yarn shop outside of town. I also met a couple of other ladies that knit/crochet at SELF. One of the ladies joined us at the Barnes and Noble for the knitting time.
I and my son made 360 sugar cookies to be handed out at SELF and they were a big hit with everyone.
I finished my socks from the yarn that I kool aid dyed in orange and cherry. I used the "Leaves of Whimsy" pattern.
July 19th was knit in public day, my local yarn shop had an event where we sat outside and knitted in the parking lot. She had a nice sale on all her yarns and knitting bags.
July 19th was also the USS Yeager/Rising Star Picnic which was held in Blacksburg at the Caboose Park. We had a great crowd and a good time with good food.
This Saturday I will be travelling with my hubby and father in law to Lynchburg for a home board meeting (The Odd Fellows & Rebekah Home). This will give me some knitting time.
It seems we stay busy during the month of June.

WWKIP in the Northern Neck
Please join the knitters in the Northern Neck at the Knit in Public event at the Farmers Market in Heathsville on June 19. We will be knitting from 9 a.m. to 1 p.m. We will have space either inside or outside, depending upon the weather. Bring your knitting and come join us. We will have some afghan blocks on needles for those who would like to knit, but don't have a project that is appropriate for knitting out. We will also provide some quick instruction for those who have never knitted, but would like to contribute a few stitches to the afghan blocks.
The finished blocks will be donated to From the Heart Stitchers.
The Farmers Market will be held in the field and pavilion behind the old courthouse off Hwy 360 in Heathsville. Lunch will be available at the restaurant in the Rice Hotel/Hughlett Tavern adjacent to the Farmers Market. The Tavern Spinners and Weavers Guild will also host an open studio in the room above the restaurant.
Please come enjoy a quiet, knitterly day in the beautiful Northern Neck.

from the toes up – no yarn shortage surprises, you can make a cuff shorter if need be! Under the
tuition of the creator of this novel knitting method, students will create their own miniature

Sedalia Fiber Festival
I was a vendlor at the Sedalia Fiber Festival. What follows are random thoughts:
Wonderful fibers, great colors, but what happened to worsted weight yarn? Patterns still call for them.
Great support for raffle items. Lots of chances to win great yarn, a spinning wheel, etc.
Traffic was less than desireable. With the yarn available, more should attend. Understandably, the venue is out of the way, but perhaps the VA community could help support this great event.

Charity Knitting at the Beach
Feeling rather smug, but thankful for my vacation at the Outer Banks, NC. Decided to charity knit this week in thankfulness for my good fortune. You know, knit on the beach....So far, 12 preemie caps & one chemo cap for a neighbor with ovarian cancer. I indulged at the LYS for patterns & yarn for a caplet & shrug (a girls gotta do what a girls gotta do!). I love supporting the LYS. Hope this blog inspires VA interchange of ideas.

I got sucked into the Harry Potter Knit & Crochet House Cup on Ravelry... have any of the rest of you joined that particular bit of insanity?
Earrings and pretty things for Mother's Day
Look for my tent on Saturday, May 8 at the Strawberry Street Festival in the Fan, on Hanover Avenue. I will be in spot #38, TG Designs, LLC. This will be a great time to pick up gifts for Mothers Day.
The Sarah Collections - these square bright transparent studs were originally created for my best friend Sarah.
The earrings featured on the right side are called Fire in Ice. Once you put them on they throw out firey colors which are different with everything you wear. There are pendants to match. These are also a favorite of brides.
Yes, we make clips too!
We take Master Card and Visa.

encouraged her to work without commercial patterns. Looking for new inroads in fiber art,
Morgan-Oakes taught herself to spin and knit. She brings the perspective of a self-taught knitter
to her classes. A registered nurse and former home-schooling mom she now teaches knitting,
writes, and designs patterns in beautiful Western Massachusetts
